Here you will find our current inventory of Canyon Diablo Meteorites which come from the famous “Arizona Meteor Crater” which is located about 40 miles east of Flagstaff, AZ. The Canyon Diablo Meteor Crater is some 600 feet deep and many meteorites were spread around the crater after impact. Meteorites obtained from the area are classified as coarse octahedrite iron meteorites. Our meteorites in inventory vary in weight and shape - sometimes small and weighing just a few grams to huge and weighing thousands of grams. Below is our current inventory of NWA 869 meteorites from Northwest Africa. Discovered in the year 2000 near Tindouf in Algeria. It is estimated that close to 3,000 kilograms of meteorites have been found from this fall so far. It is classified as an L-Chondrite. Libyan desert glass is believed to have been formed when an asteroid, comet or large meteor hit the earth’s surface. The extremely high temperatures of this even melted the sand and basically turned it to a natural type of glass. Our Libyan desert glass specimens are available in many different shapes and sizes and come from the western desert of Egypt. The clarity and colors vary - some are gemstone quality and others are more opaque. We have natural samples as well as cut gemstones, pendants and more. The Mali Erg Chech meteorites come from a meteor fall in July of 2007 near the border of Algeri and Mali. Classification is still pending but is currently under the Stone - Chondrite category.
